Total floor area of 60,500 sqm of floor area, comprising of 4 blocks of campus with various floor heights. Architects encountered various design challenges and StiFlex was able to provide the solutions. There was an auditorium with sloping wall height, shortest at 15m and tallest at 22m. StiFlex coupler joints extender was proposed due to logistics limitations of not more than 12m and because coupler at mid-height would weaken the steel member, intermittent tie-backs of the tall vertical members to concrete structures were introduced along the entire length. With post-tensioned structures, some areas of ceiling slabs were not flat but angled in various direction of the walls, both paralel and perpendicular. As such, StiFlex top connectors had to be specially fabricated yet with standardized solutions for ease of production at factory and on-site installation to suit the direction and inclination of angles. Other special requirements include vertical StiFlex free-standing cantilever vertically as walls were designed not for full height from floor to ceiling, but terminated at lower height. Hence, stiffeners were not permitted to span from floor to ceiling and to coincide with lowered wall height. Project was awarded to 2 sub-contractors for wall and stiffener installation. Hence, product labelling was crucial in order for main-contractor to manage the site.
