Singapore Institiute of Technology SIT was set-up with designated building blocks built within Singapore Polytechnic as part of a pilot programme for the polytechnic to focus on partnering small group of overseas universities to offer their degree programmes in Singapore. Due to its building's lower floor-to-floor height, walls were designed only with vertical stiffeners, without horizontals. Loadbearing horizontal members were used as lintels only to support the walls above doors and windows openings. StiFlex system provided solutions to curved walls and downhang as suspended lintel supports due to its wide span of openings. As an institution, fire rated walls with specific acoustic performance were part of the requirements and StiFlex system was able to comply.
